Frequently Asked Questions

This is my first time doing Pilates. Should I do private sessions first?

We always recommend that new students do a private Pilates session(s) before classes.  Privates Pilates sessions are helpful in that they allow you to become comfortable with the equipment, the terminology and to have your strength and ability assessed by an instructor.  Following the private session the instructor will give you specific  recommendations that may include further private sessions and/or classes based on your goals and ability.  We understand that not everyone can do a private session because of time and/or cost.  As such we suggest you at least start with beginner classes.

What should I bring to Pilates classes?

Come dressed to exercise.  Wear stretchable, loose and comfortable gear. For the health of everyone, please wear socks during the class. ( We also sell Toe Sox for those wanting more foot grip and pilates inspired wear). Jewelry is NOT a good idea. No cellphones during classes, to be respectful of others. No strong perfumes as some students are allergic. If you are about to renew, please bring your payment. Please understand that no classes can be confirmed if you’re not prepaid.

What if I can’t come to class and I have already been confirmed. Will I be charged?

Yes, even if it’s your first time. We require a 24hr notice before making any kind of changes to your schedule. The same rules apply to any specials.  There are no exceptions.  If you need to cancel please call us 24 hours prior to your scheduled class and we will gladly cancel your class and/or find another class that suits you.

How often should I do Pilates?

The workout is designed to strengthen and stretch your postural/ core muscles.  To develop the core you will need to regularly attend classes to create such a change. We recommend two to three times a week to allow your body to properly respond to the challenge. Depending on your initial fitness level and the intensity of the classes you attend, you will need more or less time to recover.

How do I schedule my Pilates classes?

Please click on the large blue buttons at the top of this page or the various links through the website that will bring you to our online scheduler or call us at (323) 930-9355 and we will reserve a space for you.  Our classes have only 5 spaces/ reformers. This is good in that you will receive a lot of individualized attention from the instructor, but please be aware that certain popular class times do fill up fast.  Often, once students find their preferred class times they will book several weeks to months in advance to secure their space on a regular basis.  We maintain a class waiting list to ensure anyone interested in a specific time can attend as soon as a schedule change happens.  We will add you to this this if you would like.
